Businessman, Researcher, Writer and Chairman of the Board of Turkey Thought Platform Taşkın Koçak, who was a speaker at the conference titled “How Metaverse and Artificial Intelligence Will Affect Our World” organized by our university, mentioned that the Metaverse universe will influence all sectors in the near future.
The conference took place on March 5, 2024 at the Yörük Ali Efe Hall of our University Atatürk Congress Center; Our University Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Kent, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Nuh Kılıç and Prof. Dr. Erkan Salan, Deputy General Secretary Prof. Dr. Bertan Akyol, Rector Advisor Dr. Lecturer Member Kemal Ramazan Haykıran, institute directors, faculty deans, Turkish Thought Platform Chairman Taşkın Koçak and Board Members Mehmet Şerif Niziplioğlu, Abdurrahman Karan and Abdurrahman El Sellah, academic and administrative staff and students attended.
In his presentation, Taşkın Koçak, who gave information about his work on Metaverse and artificial intelligence and the initiative of a company that exports software technologies, explained the history of Metaverse, which is rising around concepts such as augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR), and what kind of experience it will be like, with examples. Koçak, who defined artificial intelligence as ‘the intelligent child of man’, conveyed his predictions about what kind of social relations will be established in the future.
Stating that Metaverse universes consist of Internet, Web 3.0, He gave examples of its use. Stating that the Metaverse concept was announced to the world by Mark Zuckerberg in October 2021, Taşkın Koçak stated that according to Citibank’s 2030 estimates, the number of Metaverse users will reach 5 billion and its economic size will reach 13 trillion dollars.
The conference was attended by the Rector of our University, Prof. Dr. Bülent Kent presented a certificate of appreciation to Taşkın Koçak and the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. It ended with the plaque presentation by İsmail Böğrekçi.
